hiya folks!

I have been wanting to get this off my mind for quite some time now and the timing seems kind of very apt with lakhs of kids making decision about their futures. I cant help but laugh at how i fumbled just about a year back !!!

TAKE THE LEAD

Just about a year ago I was fresh out of school, and as you guessed I did not make the cut to enter any of the crème da le crème colleges. But my parents were determined to   push me into a “good” engineering college.

Because the gods had declared me unfit for medicine by blessing me with horrible scores.  So I said Arts College? And my dad squealed in horror. I did not put you in xyz topper producing factory to put you in a (disgust) arts college. I wonder why it’s such a horrendous crime to study in an arts college unless you’ve chosen commerce.

So that plan was thrown out like spoilt milk so I waited and waited for my engineering counselling which ladies and gentlemen is like a penance but u don’t get moksha at end u get  cursed an pushed into the devil’s own palace where you will work like an idiot for 4 years after which it will throw you out.

Like anything that I hate my parents were delighted and it came that fateful day, after checking on all the available colleges. I could compare the counselling procedure to a cricket match but here the big wigs would lose their wicket first. And we mere mortals would have to settle with   ishanth Sharmas and whoever bats last.
And I entered Anna University (cue horns & trumpets). And I waited again for my turn .the gods were testing my patience finally when all the nails in my fingers disappeared I was called in with my dad. We sat in front of a monitor and my dad shortlisted a few colleges click click and my fate was sealed  blah blah blah engineering college guarantees 100% placement.

I feel that word has been brutally raped like every engineering student in the country. So if you thought I studied in that college and will go on to become a 15k earning girl in one “famous” MNC. You are wrong anna university had different plans for me. Yes I said anna university I took a course in media science. suprisingly my father was cool about it..but despite all the oohs and aahs from my friends and relatives

I got in and now I am a second year student with no regrets. Oh wait is this an advertisement for your course this whole article. Before you start rolling your eyes, this is not about this course that I chose. It’s about the decision thousands of kids are going to make very soon.

This decision will change their life for better or worse and it’s all in their hands. There are so many fields, which have not been explored with a plethora of opportunities. So what if your relatives stare because you aren’t an engineer or your neighbors call you “not an engineer”.

Just move on  because the world is full of people who talk and talk and do nothing just pat yourself on the back that you’ve finally gotten out of the herd and you’re walking alone. Walking alone can be scary but mind you that is when the world will notice you. Make a good decision and the rest of your life is yours to shape.

Enough of my lectures now go make your own memories juniors
